Women-only bike tours that include some hiking as well

by Karen Miltner

The view from Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park.

We sometimes get asked if WomanTours offers any hiking tours for women. While our focus is primarily on bike tours for women only, we do have some trips where hiking is built into the itinerary for a day or two. So if you’re a cyclist who looks forward to getting those feet on the ground, then read up and consider these tours.

Bike through the badlands, hike to Zabriskie Point

Death Valley National Park Bike Tour Feb. 16-21, 2025 and Nov. 3-8, 2025

An after-lunch hiking option takes us through Golden Canyon to one of the most iconic spots in the entire park, Zabriskie Point, named for the man who had a long career with the Pacific Coast Borax Company. Take in the views of the brown and white hills, the salt flats and the Panamint Mountains.

Hike to the Tiger’s Nest, a Buddhist pilgrimage

Bicycling in Bhutan Bike Tour April 17-26, 2025

Sure to be among the highlights of this trip is the day of hiking to Paro Taktsang, the monastery also known as Tiger’s Nest where 8th century master Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated for more than three years. Many believers consider this trek a pilgrimage that brings enlightenment.

Bike to the sunrise, hike around the pond

Maine: Acadia National Park Bike Tour July 26-31, 2025

From the traffic-free carriage trails to the stunning coastal roads, our Acadia National Park bike tour covers a lot of diverse terrain. If you have any gas left in the tank after our sunrise ride up Cadillac Mountain, then join us for a gentle 3.3-mile hike around Jordan Pond for some breathtaking views of mountains that have been shaped by glaciers.

Mongolian wilderness via biking and hiking

Mongolia: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park Bike Tour July 4-17, 2025

Sleeping in gers (similar to yurts). Sharing a pit toilet. Going without WIFI.  This backcountry adventure is not for the meek. It’s fat tire bikes only, except for the day when we ditch the bikes and hike along the Tsagaan-Gol River in Bear Valley, a place that is hospitable to humans only in summer.

A short bike ride then a peak with a view

Washington: San Juan Islands Bike Tour Aug. 5-11, 2025 and Sept. 4-10, 2025

One afternoon of this popular tour is devoted to climbing to the top of Mount Constitution, the highest point in the San Juans. Here you have a panorama of all the islands as well as the snow-topped Mount Baker, the third highest mountain in the state. The warm-up will be a 12-mile ride in the morning.

Rock out on this national park hike

Utah: Moab Arches and Canyonlands Oct. 19-25, 2025

Arches National Park has more than 2,000 natural stone arches. Unfortunately we can’t get to all of them on our day of hiking there during this tour, but we do see a few, including the most celebrated: Delicate Arch. Get ready to relish rock fins, balanced rocks and sky-high pinnacles as well.
